NC Tracks to go live July 1, 2013
On July 1, 2013 Medicaid and NC Health Choice Providers will use a different billing system: NC Tracks. We want to make sure you are ready for this change! NASW-NC has helped the Department of Health and Human Services develop a provider friendly fact sheet about who is impacted by this change and how they enroll in the new system. For more information and assistance to providers, check out an additional resource: What You Need to Know. We hope all of this information provides you with an easy transition into NC Tracks!
State Health Plan
As a member of the Joint Insurance Committee, NASW-NC meets monthly with stakeholders to discuss and address issues related to behavioral health providers on insurance panels. In the fall, members of the Joint Insurance Committee met with State Treasurer Janet Cowell to talk about one barrier to mental health and substance abuse care that state employees often face is that these services are charged the higher specialty co-pay rate as opposed to the primary care co-pay rate. This often means employees are less willing to seek mental health treatment. As a result of our advocacy, we were able to negotiate mental health and substance abuse care be moved to the primary care co-pay rate. This change (will send this link as well once it’s online) goes into effect July 1, 2013 and is a huge success not only for state employees but for providers!
