Supervision is a critical part of social work practice. Supervisors must act as gate keepers for the profession while working to foster the clinical growth, development, and competencies of those they supervise. Providing supervision is a time honored tradition as well as a legal requirement for LCSWA’s. More social workers are building a practice around supervision than ever before and they are understanding that supervision is a business arrangement that holds the same amount of liability and risk as does other areas of clinical practice.
