Kathy has an MSW from West Virginia University and a certificate in Association Management from Duke University. Kathy was selected as the National NASW Chapter Director of the Year in 2000. Prior to her work with NASW-NC, Kathy spent 6 years with Johnston County Mental Health Center in Smithfield, NC where she worked as the Consultation and Education Coordinator.
Hope (Murdock) Venetta received her BA from Meredith College and a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Hope brings to the Association experience in designing professional development opportunities for medical and mental health professionals. Before signing on with NASW-NC, in 2008, Hope worked as Training Coordinator for the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Facilities and later as a Medical Conference Manager for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. In her current role, Hope develops and implements programs that strengthen the quality of continuing education options for Social Workers in North Carolina. In addition to her role in creating learning environments for professionals to develop their skill, Hope also enjoys helping young professionals stake their claim in their chosen field, and seasoned professionals get more from their careers. Kay earned her BSW from Campbell University. Kay has extensive experience working abroad with oprhanages in South Africa and in women and adolescent health policy in London, England. Kay spent two months in a youth and women’s healthcare agency working with the Press Department to develop creative advocacy tools for international issues that affect young teenagers and was privileged to present her work at the Houses of Parliament. Before coming to NASW-NC, Kay worked for the Methodist Home for Children in a level 2 residential group home and continued her work with youth through Methodist Home through 2011. In her role at NASW-NC, Kay is a registered lobbyist and serves as the Vice Chair and Treasurer of The Coalition, Vice Chair of the Coalition on Aging and Secretary for the Mental Health Coalition. Kay currently serves on the Board of Directors of NC Women United.
Before moving to North Carolina from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Valerie obtained her Master of Social Work and Public Policy degrees from the University of Minnesota. Valerie’s social work experience includes a focus on refugee and immigrant families, early childhood education, women and youth education, affordable housing, and nonprofit management. Erin holds a Masters in Public Administration, and a BA in Psychology and Leadership Studies. Her professional focus includes technology and social media, office functioning, strategic planning and programmatic implementation. Erin has worked in the non-profit arena since 2007 moving from office management to organizational management in 2010.
